Hi there!

welcome to the new nrp blog.  It’s really the old nrp blog.  All of our old posts are here.  We just moved everything over here.  Thanks for making the leap with us!

There are a few things missing from this new blog, including tags, and the much-loved Facebook like button, along with a bunch of other stuff you probably won’t miss.  We decided to build this new blog from the ground up, and to simplify it a lot.  We’re simple people.  We like simple. Some of the things we’re working to bring back to this blog as quickly as we can.  Things like social media buttons we hope to have back soon.  In the meantime, We love the new look.  We hope you do too.

Welcome!

nathan

Hi everyone. I’ve been meaning to post this for weeks, but I finally broke down and posted Diana and Steven first. I couldn’t keep those to myself a second longer. I know, I’ve been a very bad blogger the past couple of months. We’ve been super busy getting ready for 2011 and an all new nrp, we just haven’t had time to catch our breath. 2010 was a really exciting and landmark year for us and there were lots of changes under the hood that we felt like we need to make official.

If you read regularly, I’m sure you noticed a change in focus during 2010 from portrait photography toward wedding photography. We love shooting portraits, but we love love love shooting weddings. So with a new year ahead of us, we thought it was time to make it official, and re-focus our web presence to concentrate on our love of weddings. This doesn’t mean we aren’t still going to shoot portraits. We are. We love portraits and we love shooing kids, and families, and honestly we hope to do lots of that kind of photography for the future families of our brides and grooms. So there will be portraits and we’ll definitely be sharing that work here on the blog. But weddings are where we plan to spend most of our time.

We also felt like we’ve really focused our style in the past couple of years, and we wanted the look of our business to better reflect the look of our photography, so you’ve probably noticed a more stylized portfolio and some flashy new colors around the blog. It’s the new us. We hope you like.

And finally, and most importantly–

I got this silly idea in my head about getting a lot more serious about my love for photography in 2008 and tepidly asked my wife Amy what she would think if I embarked on a FOURTH career. She was behind me immediately, She’s been nothing but supportive since day one, but over the past year she’s become much more than just a cheerleader, she’s become an active and vital part of my work. She is incredibly passionate about photography and incredibly passionate about the people we work with, and she’s incredibly passionate about cute things, and stylish things, and she’s incredibly creative. I have come to rely on her very heavily for inspiration, for ideas, for styling shoots, for assistance with posing. She comes up with ideas in her sleep, she scouts locations pretty much any time she’s breathing. She reminds me to eat before your shoot so I don’t pass out on you. She does much more than support me, she’s become my equal partner in this little venture. And in 2010, she got sick of wrestling with me to get the photos she wants, so she’s picked up her own camera and she’s completely addicted to the thing. I’m already looking forward to 2012 when she can take over the whole thing on her own and I can finally achieve my dream of being a full-time house husband.

So I’m officially welcoming Amy on board. We’re affectionately calling her Creative Director and Stylist (don’t worry, I’ve already let her know there is no pay raise involved, just the admiration of her fellow co-worker). She’s official. She’ll be involved in all aspects of planning for our future work, right out front, not just behind the scenes. You’ll be meeting her at consultations, and working with her very closely through the preparation for your shoots. She’ll also be hanging out here on the blog more, contributing posts of her own. She’s smarter and funnier than me, so this is very good news for you.

So welcome to the new nathan russell photography. We want to thank all of you who have supported us over the past couple of years, and here’s to an amazing 2011 for all of us.

I’m absolutely giddy to announce today that we are now offering Premium Slideshows to all of our clients. These puppies are not your average slideshows, which is why they’re Premium Slideshows (clever how we do that, right?). We custom create these slideshows for you by putting the photos from your session together with professionally designed transitions and animations. Then we throw in video clips from your session and set it all to music. The slideshows are delivered on DVD at full DVD resolution. If you’re one of those people who has a hard time choosing which photos you want to purchase, this is a great way to get all of your images at a really affordable price. And they come packaged in an elegant brushed aluminum tin, so they make perfect gifts for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, or for grandparents. We can also offer you smaller streaming versions you can post to your Facebook, YouTube channel, or personal site.

Slideshows are available beginning right now from the nathanrussellphoto.com store. You can get one copy, or buy multiple copies for family and save a ton. They also come standard in any of our 2010 packages. And if you had a session in 2009 and now you’re having slideshow envy, never fear! We can create DVDs for you too. Just shoot us an email and let us know you’re interested in purchasing a slideshow from your proof set. We can email you an invoice, and your DVD will appear in the mail a few days later, just like magic.

There’s really no way to describe to you how awesome these videos look, so I thought I’d just let you see for yourself (and this is just the streaming version, imagine how great it looks at full-res).

You are amazing!!! The pictures and video are amazing, and yes I let a tear fall. Children of that age are my favorite. I remember my son’s first snow day in Colorado with our dog Icon…

I want a slide show with my son from our next session! I am trying to get dates for before I ship out so keep me in mind…

Hope to work with you again in a few months…

Sometimes, when I’m annoyed at work, I come and watch this video and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside (and sometimes I tear up a little, but just because i’m so overcome with love for my family) and then my work woes seem far away. That was, by far, the best week I had all year, and I’m glad that you documented it for us :)

Hi there,

This is just a quick note to say that my portfolio site, nathanrussellphoto.com is currently having a bit of a break down. It’s been a busy couple of months for her, and she’s just had enough.

Some of the galleries will not load, or will just randomly quit working halfway through.

I just want you to know we’re aware of the problem, and are working furiously to get everything back up and running properly. In the meantime all of the info pages are working properly, and you can see a good sampling of my work here on the blog.

Thanks for your patience.

Update Everything seems to be restored to normal. Enjoy viewing the galleries, and sorry again for any inconvenience.
