you have questions
There are some things you probably want to know about your potential wedding photographers before you go any further. Here are a few answers to some of those questions.
Do you have backup equipment?
Yes. We have backups of all our primary equipment, including multiple camera backups, and backups for all of our main lenses. Your wedding is a one-time event. We come ready to handle it.
What is your style?
Hopefully if you’ve gotten this far, you’ve looked through the various galleries, which is the best description of our style. We shoot in a candid, informal, photojournalistic style. Our primary goal is to capture the real moments of your wedding, but we also want to capture them in fresh, amazing ways. We’re not afraid to style shots along the way.
No, I mean what is your hairstyle?
Amy currently rocks the Mia Wallace, and Nathan is in denial about his impending baldness.
Do you shoot in color or black & white?
For weddings, we shoot digital, so the answer is both. All of our images start out in color, but we do love a good black & white. When you receive your edit it will contain a nice, healthy mix of color and black & white images. The good news for you is that in most cases we can make any image color or black & white, so if we provide something in black & white that you really want in color, just let us know. Occasionally, for artistic reasons we may choose to provide you with an image in only black & white, or only in color, but this is rare.
What about that selective color thing, where you make everything black and white, except for my eyes???
Yeah, no. We don’t do that.
Do you use an assistant? Do you charge for it?
We work as a team, which means we’ll both be at your wedding, and we’ll both be taking pictures. We usually don’t need an assistant unless your wedding is unsually large or complicated.
What are you going to wear to my wedding?
Our goal is to blend in, so we’ll be wearing what you’ve asked your guests to wear. If it’s a formal wedding, we’ll be formal. If your wedding is super casual, we’ll dress down. We’ll go over this with you in the planning, so there won’t be any surprises.
Will you accept a list of specific photos we want?
Not only will we accept it, we’ll ask you for it. Twice. Three times, maybe. Look, don’t make us beg. Every wedding is different. We’ll shoot everything we see, but we always request a list of your desired group formals, and any other must-have shots from the day.
Can other people take photos while you are taking photos?
If you’re talking about your friends and family, absolutely, we encourage it. Everyone should take home their own memories from your day. There may be certain moments during portraits where we ask people not to use flash when we’re taking our photos, but we’ll leave time for them to snap some at the end.
Is this your recent work that I’m seeing on your website?
Yes– it seems like we can’t shoot a wedding without falling in love with the photos ourselves, which makes us want to share them. Many of the photos you see here are from this past wedding season, and you can always see our most recent work on our blog.
Do you like mushrooms?
Amy loves them. Nathan, not so much.
Our wedding won’t be in Austin, do you travel?
We will traverse the globe to capture your wedding. Travel within 60 miles of Austin is included. Additional fees apply for other travel outside this area. Travel charges include actual mileage or flight charges, actual hotel and car fees, and a small meal per diem, if applicable.
Do you require a deposit?
There are only so many weekends in a year. This unfortunate fact limits how many weddings we are available to shoot. For this reason, we charge a non-refundable retainer equal to 50% of your total at the time of booking.
Wait, a second, I’ve got more questions.
